We’ve all dreamed about it. Us guys, anyway. Sooner or later every guy spends a few minutes daydreaming about what it would be like to be the Dark Knight. If money is no object, Samuel Lee and the guys at Prince Armory in Dallas, Texas have a solution for you. They’ve created this amazing suit of Batman armor that looks like it was straight out of an Elseworlds tale. The model in these pictures Carlos Blanchard, and happens also to be the lucky guy who owns the armor. The stuff isn’t metal, it’s heavily wet-molded leather. Even the helmet – the only parts that aren’t leather are the rivets and buckles.
Prince Armory specializes in elaborate (and presumably expensive) custom leather fantasy armor. Virtually anything you can imagine can be yours if you’re willing to pony up the five figures for a masterwork set of custom-designed armor. There’s a DeviantArt page containing a gallery of all the remarkable, wonderful combat-impractical fantasy costuming they’ve done since their founding in 2007.
You might imagine that armor like this is meant to be worn, not fought in, and you’d be right in that assumption. And with prices approaching that of a new car, you’d be less concerned about how protected you’d be while fighting in it and more concerned about accidentally scratching the upholstery.
Feast your eyes on this photo gallery. If you’ve got deep pockets, you might commission a set for yourself, but we’re guessing most people will have to be content with the pictures. Still, even the pictures are a treat. Photos were by Christina Mendenhall . See the pictures after the break, and enjoy the shared dream.
