Iron Man 3 Takes It To The Next Level
When we saw Iron Man 2, and then the Avengers movie, we thought, well all right now. That’s Iron Man. But what could they possibly do with him after that? Rumors abounded as to who the villian would be, and it turned out to be Ben Kingsley, an actor who has made quite a reputation for himself playing heavies (as well as Gandhi, actually).
We breathed a sigh of relief, because the only other high profile character Iron Man was known for going up against was the dragon Fing Fang Foom, who, frankly, sounds like something from the bottom of the barrel on Make Crazy Stuff Up Day at Marvel.
But this – this looks pretty solid. Director Shane Black and his co-screenwriter Drew Pierce shook the box – hard – and came up with something that would excite and delight. And from the look of this trailer, deliver.
Part of the Iron Man 3 story is behind the scenes. The beleaguered Digital Domain, a prominent and historic FX company now in bankruptcy, had something over three hundred shots it was responsible for, but these were pulled and given to another studio to do. Filming won’t finish till January, due in part to a minor injury sustained by Downey, so that’s cutting things pretty fine for getting all those effects done for an April release.
Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, and James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. Marvel’s iconic super hero Iron Man first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense #39 in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man #1 in May of 1968.Iron Man 3releases in the U.K. on April 26, 2013, and in the U.S. on May 3.
Enjoy.
