Gallifrey One 2013 is the world’s largest and longest running Doctor Who convention. It’s held every year around the middle of February, and it just happened again this last weekend between February 15-17 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel.
We’ll have more coverage of the convention tomorrow morning, but today we’d like to share 500 Miles of Rassilon, a fan-made video send-up of the original ‘500 Miles’ video done for the 2011 wrap party of the David Tennant era for the Doctor Who television series. It debuted at Gallifrey One right before the Masquerade.
500 Miles of Rassilon was a joint effort between SCIFI.radio, executive producer Lee Almodovar (who was in charge of Operations at Gallifrey One both this year and last year), and a very long list of participants. If you attended Gallifrey One in 2012, you may see yourself in this video!
Presented here are the 500 Miles of Rassilon video, and the original 500 Miles video upon which it was based.
This whole thing was the brainchild of Lee Almodovar who tirelessly coordinated hordes of people, collected and edited video, and swam through stormy seas of editorial oversight to get this thing done.
We hope you have as much fun watching it as we did making it.
