Paul McCartney re-invented his sound once again for his recent album, New. This just-released video for the song “Appreciate” features some cool FX. The video shows McCartney on display in a “Museum of Man,” along with a bunch of other humans. The robot museum guard, Newman, pulls McCartney out of his display and dancing ensues!
“I woke up one morning with an image in my head of me standing with a large robot,” McCartney said in a statement. “I thought it might be something that could be used for the cover of my album New, but instead the idea turned out to be for my music video for ‘Appreciate.’ Together with the people who had done the puppetry for the worldwide hit War Horse, we developed the robot who became Newman.” (actually, this in a mistake: Newman was designed by Significant Object, Ltd., and the puppetry for War Horse was done by Handspring Puppet Company.)
It’s a nice treat for McCartney fans, since the 71-year-old singer just had to cancel his entire Japanese concert tour because he is down with a viral illness. We wish speedy healing to Sir Paul!
