The new commercial represents the first strike forward into other media for Krypton Media Group, the parent company of Krypton Radio. It was made to promote the award winning The New MarkWho42, the widely popular Doctor Who themed radio talk show that airs each Wednesday and Friday on Krypton Radio. The New MarkWHO42 is produced by Mark Baumgarten, and features weekly panelists Mark Baumgarten, Patricia Helm, Eduardo M. Freyre, Patrick Hawkins and Christian Basel. With each new episode, they present news, reviews, interviews, and other things related to time travelers in little blue boxes. Some of their interviews have been with some really noteworthy people from the world of Doctor Who, including people like Who companions Katie Manning and Sophie Aldred, and even the 5th Doctor, Peter Davison.
Before playing the commercial, you will probably want to temporarily pause the Krypton Radio music stream using the handy controller to the upper right. It will make it easier to hear the soundtrack in the commercial itself.
The 30-second spot was produced over a span of about five days. It is a joint effort between Christian Basel of MarkWHO42.net who provided the voice over, Iggy Mathews of Let’s Be Reelz, a geek culture production company based in San Diego, and Gene Turnbow of Krypton Radio. Let’s Be Reelz provided the concept and the animatic for the commercial, with Krypton Radio/Krypton Media Group’s Gene Turnbow providing the visual effects, compositing, and final edit.
The commercial, produced in full 1080i HD, will air twice this September 19 on Bright House Cable, serving central Florida, in conjunction with the airing of The Magician’s Apprentice, the first episode of the 9th series of Doctor Who, starring Peter Capaldi.
MarkWho42 has been in operation since 2012, and since then they have become a local favorite in the Florida area, quickly joining the ranks of Dr. Who iconic fandom.
This first television commercial represents a first step into transmedia production environments by Krypton Media Group, and the newly added production capabilities will serve to facilitate other upcoming production efforts by the company in its quest to become a significant media provider in the world of geek culture. KMG welcomes production inquiries, and can produce commercials and other video production of at least this quality on short notice. Email email@example.com for more information.
