Walt Disney Studios just finished knocking one out of the park with Zootopia, and we finally have a first look at the newest gem in the Disney crown: Moana!
The newest princess in the Disney family is from the South Pacific. Moana, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, shows the young girl who teams up with the demi-god named Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) on a journey to save her people from the ancient land of Oceania. This first teaser gives us our first good look at Maui and Dwayne Johnson’s portrayal, and it’s just bouncy rollicking fun.
It looks like another breathtaking adventure. The computer-animated film — the first from prolific Disney animators Ron Clements and John Musker, the duo that gave us The Little Mermaid and Aladdin – is scripted by Zootopia scribe Jared Bush, What We Do in the Shadows writer/director Taika Waititi, and acclaimed sitcom writer Pamela Ribon.
Hamilton star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing some original music with Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina for the soundtrack. Moana comes ashore November 23rd.
We can hardly wait!
