“This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. This message is a warning for  any surviving Jedi…”

When you hear that iconic voice, you will get chills.

The new mid-season trailer for season three of Star Wars Rebels marks the first appearance of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the popular animated series. The new trailer just dropped on the Star Wars Rebels  YouTube channel.

Since the beginning, the series has given all Star Wars fans reasons to watch. In addition to the new characters, Clone Wars fan favorites, Asoka Tano, Commander Rex, and the annoying Battle Droids have returned. Grand Admiral Thrawn made his way from the Star Wars novels to the screen. Even our favorites from the movies have appeared in the series, Bale Organa, Princess Leia, C3P0, R2D2, Darth Maul, and Darth Vader.

The Rebels storyline takes place about five years before A New Hope, which means that we’re heading into familiar territory.

In the trailer, we get a brief taste of what to expect. It starts off with the hologram recording from Obi-Wan Kenobi that was featured in Rebels‘ first episode. Grand Moff Tarkin will make an appearance, as well as Mon Mothma, teasing the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Saw Gerrera will play a part, voiced by Forrest Whittaker, reprising the role from Rogue One – and there’s plenty of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Sabine, the Mandalorians, and the Dark Saber.

Perhaps the best part of the trailer, is right at the end – a tease of a rematch. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul will, once again, face off against one another. At least, that’s what we’re expecting from the look of the trailer. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see a shaky alliance formed between the two. At any rate, the series is going to be very interesting to watch from here on out.

Who’s providing the voice for Obi-Wan? It’s veteran voice actor Stephen Stanton, who previously voiced Mas Amedda in The Clone Wars, and Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin on both Clone Wars and Rebels.

Star Wars Rebels returns to Disney XD on January 7, beginning with the two part episode Ghosts of Geonosis featuring Forrest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.
