With today’s release of Thor: Ragnarok in movie theaters, this week’s Fan Film Friday will go from Earth to Asgard, to explore fan productions based upon Marvel’s God of Thunder.

CODE GREEN (2012)

In the newest Hollywood blockbuster, Thor teams up with his friend from work, the Incredible Hulk. Thus, that is why this fan film is on the list. The story is that Bruce Banner is on the run from soldiers, but must also face himself at the same time. For something with a low budget, they do a great job with setting up good-looking shots. As well, the lead actor gives a decent performance of the inner struggles of Banner. Finally, it actually builds up some good intensity, such as in the chase scenes.

SUPERHERO MOTIVATION – THOR (2014)

Made as a video to inspire people, the actor has an uncanny resemblance to both cinematic and comic book Thor. There are some incredible shots of Thor that are equally inspiring and amazing. The editing is also well done and really builds on the uplifting momentum.

THE HAMMER (2014)

Written upon Mjolnir is the inscription “Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” In this short film, a young photographer on a hike happens upon the Thunder God’s hammer in a field. Of course, he picks it up and ends up being thrown into a situation he did not expect. While very short, it’s a unique look at an Average Joe wielding Mjolnir.

THOR: CIVIL WAR FAN MADE TRAILER (2015)

This is a pretend trailer for a non-existing movie. But, it does have some really nice shots of Thor walking through the snow. Very short, but sweet.

While unfortunately there are not many Thor and Hulk fan films out there, it is the hope of this SCIFI.radio writer that you still enjoyed this selection. Hopefully the release of Thor: Ragnarok will inspire future fans and filmmakers to tell their own stories outside Hollywood.
