In this trailer, a dapper and much younger Dumbledore entreats Newt Scamander to take over the task of removing Grindelwald from the wizarding gene pool. The reason? Grindelwald sees wizards as the superior race, and wants to put wizards at the top of the food chain. To do this, he plans to dissolve the peace enjoyed by the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds for the past 100 years.

The visual effects in this film appear to be more dense than anything we’ve seen in any Harry Potter universe story before, and in fact it’s hard to imagine how it could be made more so. With all the evidence of technical wizardry, however, also comes evidence of a strong story, with strong, sometimes conflicted characters.

The new film goes into more depth in the characters, and the world around them is a darker place. Newt must engage and be a part of his world’s future despite his reluctance to take sides in anything.

What lies in store for Newt Scamander  and his no-maj traveling companion Jacob Kawalski? Let’s find out.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald stars Eddie Redmayne, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Ezra Miller, and makes its debut on November 16, 2018.
