The last time we saw Kurt Russell in a movie, it was as the humanoid personification of a living planet named Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.  You could say he was a global phenomenon. But then you’d probably have to duck.

Couldn’t resist. And I’m the editor, so there’s no one to stop me.

Now Russell takes on the role of a lifetime as the Man in Red himself, the one and only Santa Claus. Pause the SCIFI.radio stream via the handy control at the top of the page if you need to, and watch Kurt Russell in this new trailer for Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles.

It’s got everything. It’s got Russell as Santa Claus, it’s got incredulous kids trying to prove Santa is real, it’s got cute little CGI animated elves, it’s got car chases.

Wait, what?

The Christmas Chronicles is a family movie in which Russell’s Kris Kringle gets into something of a situation with the Pierce family, portrayed by Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Nashville), Oliver Hudson (Scream Queens), Judah Lewis (Summer of 84), and Darby Camp (Big Little Lies). It’s Christmas Eve, and the Pierce children attempt to record video of Santa, and everything goes sideways from there.

The Christmas Chronicles is co-produced by Chris Columbus, a veteran of the fantasy film genre. It’s due out on November 22.
