We’ve been waiting for this since last April 27, when Avengers: Infinity War left us dangling with half the living beings in the entire universe seemingly destroyed by Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet that Starlord let him keep by grandstanding instead of prying it off the Mad Titan’s left hand (did anybody else notice Thanos is left handed?)

The release of the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame was originally supposed to drop Wednesday, but in deference to the memorial services held on that day for President George H. W. Bush, who passed away at the grand age of 94, the trailer was respectfully delayed. 

Now that it’s here, have a look. Be sure to pause the SCIFI.radio stream while watching. The controller is at the top of the screen.

As Low As We Go. Brace Yourself.

This is the lowest place we could go, and the lowest place from which we could possibly bounce back to get everything back the way it was. This is pretty grim. Tony Stark is lost in space, recording what he hopes will be a message that Pepper Potts will eventually receive. Thanos walks contemplatively through an open field. What’s he thinking?

There’s a quick shot of Hawkeye with a samurai sword as the last man standing over a street full of bodies which implies that we’re going to be shown what the heck he was doing while the rest of the team was off fighting Thanos. 

Captain America and Black Widow have a plan, but we don’t know what they hope to accomplish; and the ruminations over this new plan are interrupted by the doorbell.

And that’s mostly what we have so far. This is early in the promotional events leading up to the April 2019 release of the new film. Everything looks amazing so far, as we expected it would.

Is Everybody Actually Dead?

We’re gonna go with “no”, because the name of the new Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland is Spider-man: Far from Home. 

First, there is a new Spider-Man movie, and if Spidey were really gone, there wouldn’t be one. 

Second, there would be no new Spidey Stealth Suit as revealed on a mannequin at Brazil Comic Con if there wasn’t an answer to the “and then what happened” question. The answer is, unequivocally, that half the living beings in our universe were sent someplace else, and not destroyed as Thanos had intended.

And third, and very obviously, the Captain Marvel just dropped earlier this week, which means with the rumored drop of the new Spider-Man movie this weekend, that’s three Marvel universe movie trailers in one week. They’re building to a huge crescendo, and there’s a lot more story to tell.
