Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.

There’s A Lot of Names We Could Call You, But We Have to Keep It Clean
Krypton Radio Bull Session
Ok so we posted the other day on our Facebook Page, seeing what we could get in the way of suggestions for names for our fans. If you’re not entirely clear on what we’re babbling about, it’s the nicknames that fans of radio stations get. For example there are many radio stations called “The Edge”, and their fans tend to be called “Edge Heads” or something of that nature. So after a few rounds of tossing beanie babies out the window at local mimes, and Nerf fights in the office, we thought it might be cool to have a nick name for our fans.
We lurked the Facebook pages for shares and responses, and here’s the suggestions (serious or not) we’ve gotten from fans and fellow staffers so far: Continue reading “Calling Our Fans Names!“
The 80′s hold a special place in this curmudgeon’s heart; the TV shows, the music, the questionable taste in clothes and the gag me with a spoon references that never seemed to get old. Although if you whip out any of that lingo today, I’ll have to soundly beat you into the ground with the decaying cans of hair spray you have stuffed next to your collection of Swatch Watches. This DeLorean powered trip down memory lane is brought to you by the Superman Dancers of Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
It seems like the UK is awash with Superman themed events this year, as you’ve previously read of the Cats Protection charity holding a Superman themed run, to help raise money for the care of homeless cats throughout the UK. The Superman Dancers of Lincolnshire are trying to not only raise money for a worthy cause, they’re trying to get the side benefit of getting into the Guinness Book of World Records, by holding the world’s largest dance to the song “Superman” by 1980′s band Black Lace.
Aside from dressing up like the Man of Steel and dancing to a really terrible song (in my humble opinion), the main goal is to help raise funds for an important charity. LIVES (Lincolnshire Voluntary Emergency Service), is using the fun community event to raise money to cover its operating budget. The event takes place during the 2012 Sleaford Live Festival, and features music, dancing, side stalls, tombola, raffles and more!
If you happen to be interested in attending both Superman events and don’t mind the travel; Cats Protection & The Superman Dance are both happening in May this year. The Dance happens on May 5Th and the Cats Protection run happens on May 13TH, registration for the dance is open on April 21st, check the websites for the latest details. Who knows, you may be able to take your Superman running buddies to the dance and help create one heck of a Superman themed dance off!

This is the second in a series of articles with some simple but important tips on how you can keep safe on the internet.

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed my first article on Password Security; I also hope you went through and updated all of your passwords to something reasonably complex. Today we’ll take a look at Phishing Scams; many people have heard of phishing scams and know that the Nigerian Prince who’s contacting you via e-mail is full of bologna. By the way, my email spam folder is so full of Canadian Viagra advertisements that it should be able to stand at attention and salute, well ok, maybe not the best mental imagery, but you understand.
Phishing is an internet term, which means that someone is fishing for a sucker, and they’re hoping you’re the fish/sucker that takes the bait.

Toronto Museum Finds Creative Ways to Entice Children to Visit
Krypton Radio Newswire
Anything for the Superkids Yo.
The Toronto based Scarborough Museum in Scarborough-Ontario, have found very creative ways to grab the attention of young children with innovative workshops and programs. One such program is their Saturday Adventures Club, which features alternating monthly themes and with each Saturday building upon the previous one on what the children learned. This month is for wannabe heroes with The Superhero School, running from January 7th, to the 28th of this year. The museum looked for ways to help the community and it’s younger members (with admittedly a benefit of bringing in more visitors to the museum), and initiated the special programs back in 2010.
The Superhero School allows kids 5-12 Years of Age to build emblems, masks and other Superhero attire, as they work on building their super-powered alter-egos. One of the wonderful aspects of the programs, is the level of participation by the children, being allowed to have a voice in upcoming programs; such as February’s Mad ScientistWorkshop starting on Saturday February 4 and running until February 25.
Upcoming Workshops:
Mad Scientists
Saturday February 4 to 25
5-12 yrs. $60 / 4 Workshops
