The League of Heroes welcomes you to Krypton Radio!
Who We Are
The League of Heroes (LoH), a public service organization in Second Life, patterns their avatars after comic book heroes. Also known as the Justice League Unlimited (JLU) as a group within Second Life, its members model their avatars after fictional personae. Despite this, League is not a superhero role-playing group. The characters are used to personify the ideals and commitment of its members to the public good.
Our members come from all walks of life, but include a remarkable array of professionals from creative and technical fields, including artists, programmers, scientists, writers, musicians, and more.
Based aboard our Watchtower on Justice Island, we work for the common good, to make Second Life a better place to be.
The League of Heroes has been in continuous operation since April 4, 2006.
What We Do
The mission of the LoH is to provide mentoring and render aid to SL residents in need, primarily new residents, in such areas as building, scripting and security. The LoH often acts as a neighborhood watch organization, patrolling heavily trafficked public areas that are prone to abuse by griefers. We also hold seminars and conventions on public safety, and help estate managers learn effective techniques for keeping their own lands safe.
The League of Heroes follows absolutely strict adherence to the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines for our own behavior, as well as a strict moral and ethical code. We never operate in private sims unless specifically asked to do so by parcel or estate owners.
We do not charge fees for services provided, as we feel that this would represent a serious conflict of interest with respect to protecting the public welfare.
The Secret
For many years, we’ve been the subject of much conjecture and discussion – how is it that we are able to do what we do? People look at the League and are confounded by our ability to spring back from anything, to keep moving forward in the face of adversity, and to prevail even against staggering odds.
This is the secret. At the very heart of things, at our very core, this Oath is what we are.
|
This oath is taken by each person joining the League as they become recruits. This, above all, represents the true heart of the League: The Oath of ServiceAs a member of the League, I promise to do my best in the following pursuits:
In all these things, I shall strive to the best of my ability. |
Every member of the League that ever was has sworn this oath. We believe in the good in all of us, and we strive to bring that out in ourselves and others.
The message, both to ourselves and to our community is one of hope. And that, beyond all else, is worth fighting for.

We’ve been the Justice League Unlimited (JLU) of Second Life all this time. Why “The League of Heroes”?As you may have noticed, we’ve been working on this League of Heroes concept for a good while. It’s a lot more fun to work with characters you create yourself, and there’s a lot more potential. Yes, we’re planning our own online comic book series, and you’ll find it first in the pages of Krypton Radio, and then later on our new media portal site, Krypton Universe. We’ve worked for more than five years in the Second Life platform coming to the aid of the citizens of that virtual society, but it’s time to start thinking globally, and to increase our potential so that we have some growing room for the future, using a name for our organization that is wholly our own. We can also offer paid supporting memberships to help keep this fine internet radio station on the air. This way we don’t have to limit ourselves to activity within Second Life itself, and we can expand our horizons. The core of who we are hasn’t changed. We’re still the people you can count on when you need help, and we’re not budging – except to move forward! |
