Corsair's Cube in hand. The Corsair's Closet is SO Squeeing! about this!

The Corsair’s Closet features: Matt Smith goes plastic!
By, Time Siren

The Squee! that was heard ’round the world!

This week has been a flurry of excitement at Big Chief Studios in the U.K. Feedback has been pouring into their offices as customers finally receive their newest and most accurate figure to date; the 11th Doctor Matt Smith 1:6 scale collector figure! Ever since it premiered last October on their brand new Facebook page, we’ve all been holding our collective breaths, waiting for it to be released.

There have been long approval processes, production delays and the addition of awesome accessories, making everyone squirm that much more in anticipation. The quality of this figure is breathtaking. I knew I had to have it when I mistook the preproduction stills back then as being from an actual photo shoot of the actor himself!

Even if you only collect figures for their value, you’ll be massively impressed with this one’s tiny, beautiful details. It was worth the wait for the addition of accessories such as the Corsair’s psychic message cube from the episode The Doctor’s Wife, the TARDIS blue invitations and his sonic screwdrivers (yes, two of them!). Now that more images are available at their website, go check it out and it’s a guarantee you will fall immediately in love with the accuracy of the unkempt sweep of hair over his eye, the wrinkles on his forehead and how Big Chief even remembered to turn his wrist watch backwards on his wrist!

The Corsair’s Closet features: Robert Downey Jr. gets hurt and Joss Whedon Returns!
By, Mad Woman With A Box

Some news is too exciting to stand! All the elements of a well-heeled plan come together, you’re doing a jig around the ARC reactor in your factory and in the midst of your happy dance: CATASTROPHE! You stumble, you fall, your ankle…oh, the pain! Oh, the delays!

…well, that’s how this little fangirl likes to imagine it happened.

Iron Man 3 at ComiCon

The Evolution of IRON MAN: Marvel’s recent display from this year’s SAN DIEGO COMICON promoting the release of IRON MAN 3.

Reuters reported that Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey, Jr., injured his ankle while filming a stunt during shooting of the third installment in the IRON MAN movie franchise. This is causing production delays while he recuperates from the injury. Downey suffered the injury in Wilmington, North Carolina, per the statement released by Marvel Studios. The delay will be short, which can only bode well for eager moviegoers across the globe.

This minor setback comes on the heels of the Thursday, August 16th announcement of an official release date for the sequel to THE AVENGERS, where Downey will again be featured in the role of Tony Stark. Circle it in your calendars, MARVEL-ites: May 5, 2015, prepare to assemble for viewing of the movie that writer/director Joss Whedon was just officially signed to do.

Prior to the release of this sequel, IRON MAN 3 will be in theaters next year, satisfying the appetites of hungry fans worldwide with a movie whose plot has been the source of rampant speculation. It will reunite original cast members Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow reprising her role as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, and John Favreau as Happy Hogan. Ben Kingsley has also been signed to the movie, playing the villain known as The Mandarin.

So what does this all mean for you…and by ‘you,’ I also mean me, a well-known and highly vocal fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, hopefully it means the production delay on IRON MAN 3 won’t alter the release date. As for THE AVENGERS 2? This means we will once again be treated to the cinematic stylings of Joss Whedon, the man behind both a cult and a pop culture phenomenon and the creator of the only television show in the history of the entertainment industry to be cancelled before airing its entire first season, then come back for a full length feature film that exceeded all hopes for success.

It’s a long ways away, but as far as this fan is concerned: good things are DEFINITELY worth waiting for.
