Krypton Radio is currently looking to add to our growing team of writers and sales staff.

About Krypton Radio:

Krypton Radio (KR) was founded in 2009 by Hollywood special effects pro Gene Turnbow, Hollywood journalist Susan Fox and a group of friends who had grown up with the magic of comic books, superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy. This collection of nerds and geeks celebrated their love of the incredible music that has been produced by these ever growing fandoms  with an ambitious venture: the creation of the world’s only general sci-fi radio station that broadcasts around the clock, made by and for fans and Fandom.

Krypton Radio broadcasts world wide on the internet, and in addition to having one of the most amazing collections of fandom-interest music in the world, we include  original programming from our various production partners – such talk shows as Slice of Scifi, The Corsair’s Closet, TV Campfire, Stolendroids, and even our own original production called The Event Horizon, which connects sci-fi / fantasy authors and other creatives with the fans so that the fans can find what they love, and the creatives can share what they make.

Not limited to talk, we also feature radio serial adventure series, such as the classic Adventures of Superman, X Minus 1, and The Shadow radio serials, as well as modern original productions like The Adventures of Drake and McTrowell.

We even have live DJ shows, like DJ Gary DaBaum, and Steam Powered Cabaret  and the dieselpunk Swingtastic! hosted by DJ Willow Leafstorm.

Joining the team means joining one of the most unique ventures in the sci-fi fandom world.

Qualified applicants will have in-depth knowledge not only of fandom itself, but will have a proven track record of web ad sales and a reasonably strong understanding of the technology involved; demonstrated leadership ability is also a must.

Job Description:

Are you looking to develop your career in journalism? Krypton Radio is currently looking to add to our growing team of staff writers, who share our passion for quality journalism and want to get in on the ground floor of an exciting opportunity.

Even if you’re not a professional wordsmith, but just someone who seems to have a knack for writing then we’d like to talk to you. Those who started out at our station were many times like you, an obsessed geek/nerd who developed a talent for writing that usually developed from writing role play scripts for Dungeons and Dragons.

We offer the opportunity for new writers to grow their portfolio by being able to list a real news agency that they’ve been published with, and aid in building their standing within the journalistic community.

Our little community that we’re building has already attracted some amazing people, who we’re deeply appreciative to work with. The shows and radio talent who’ve helped build us up to what we are is truly amazing and mind blowing to us. But we also want to work on our secondary goal of being an awesome news organization that helps new and blossoming journalists find their way into the big leagues.

We can’t guarantee we’ll be your big break into the world of journalism, but being able to say on a resume that you’re published on a professional news/media site (no matter how big or small it is) is still an accomplishment. We are however are in the progress of expanding and regular contributors who display a high degree of accuracy and quality in their work will be among the first to be considered for paying positions once we reach that point of being able to pay people.

Is there an age limit? For legal reasons we’d prefer to work with persons 18 or older, but if you’re younger than that we’d be more than willing to help you as long as you have written permission from your parent or guardian. We know that talent isn’t confined to any particular age, if you have talent and abilities, then we’ll want to give you a chance.

The kind of news we’re looking for:

This should be fairly obvious, but we’re looking for news on the topics we cover. Which would be superhero, comic book, science fiction, steampunk, fantasy, gaming, technology, conventions, radio shows, music and their related fan-bases. Whether it’s writing news reports, or coming up with an insightful rant on the latest video games, you might just get published!

We’re a radio station, so we’re interested in having audio segments that we can play on-air in addition to written articles. Whether you’re a master writer or a novice who’s well spoken/written then we’d like to hear and read your reports.

Since we have a YouTube channel, we will also work with video reports, especially any interviews or special spots you’re willing to do for Krypton Radio. Video reports can be merged with a written summary and featured on our website.

Do you have your own radio show or podcast that you think may be a good addition to our line up? We’re more than happy to give it a listen and offer any professional advice! Remember that any podcasts or other recorded shows must be related to the fandoms and topics we cover, we may be willing to use other content but it’s on a case by case basis. No matter what the content is, it MUST be PG-13 or better.

We’re a family friendly station and can’t host content that requires a rating higher than PG-13.

Are you brave enough to do reports from conventions? We’d be happy to use those in broadcasts and on our site.

The check into becoming a Staff Writer.  Krypton Radio is one of the fastest growing internet radio stations in the Milky Way Galaxy, and we offer tremendous career growth opportunities for our employees that get results.

But wait! There’s more!

  • Writing factual articles and opinion pieces on genres covered by Krypton Radio.
  • Providing super-heroic customer service.
  • Participate in ritualized sacrifices of pot-noodles and curry.
  • Completing all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
  • Working with the Senior Editor and Station General Manager to produce content for Krypton Radio.

You will participate in a zero-week training program that may require logging onto strange websites that give you uneasy feelings and the desire to laugh gleefully while feeling dead inside.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interested and qualified candidates must submit a resume/CV to editor(at)kryptonradio.com (No phone calls please)
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
