Starwars.com has reported today that both Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie have joined the cast of the upcoming Star Wars VII film. They join a cast of returning actors from the original trilogy, as well as actors new to the franchise: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

Nyong’o is the critically-acclaimed actress from 12 Years A Slave, a role that earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Christie is known by genre fans primarily as Brienne of Tarth from the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones.

It is currently unknown what characters they will play, but fans are speculating they will be either Jedi or Sith, probably based on the fact that Christie plays a sword-fighting warrior on Game of Thrones. We look forward to seeing them in action next year.
