It seems like the entire planet is buzzing about the controversial new film 50 Shades of Grey, an explicit film about control, obsession and sexual desire. A little known fact is that the film had its origins in some rather explicit Twilight fan fiction. It hit theaters on February 13th and is still running strong, taking in $237.7 million globally on opening weekend (although that number includes early screenings Wednesday night all the way through Sunday.) Domestically it made $102 million on a $40 million budget.
Let us attempt, though, just for a few moments, to get closer to the original roots of this unusual social phenomenon. It did start with fan-fic, after all. Today we present SourceFedNerd’s Fifty Shades of Geek. The short subject stars Trisha Hershberger, Steve Zaragoza and Reina Scully, features music by Owen Carter, and was produced by Jeremy Azevedo, Rickey Mizuno and Lenoard Wilkes. (Yes, we know. It’s spelled “Lenoard” in the credits, so there we are.)
Will Mr. Grey ever find true love? Somehow we doubt it.
