When you see this new trailer from Fox Television, you’ll say to yourself, “Of course. Of course.” Minority Report is a logical extension of a masterpiece of film making, not just another gasping Hollywood retread.
This new series explores the universe of the original 2002 Steven Spielberg film Minority Report, where people with extraordinary gifts are exploited to predict crime and apprehend criminals before they can manifest. The series is set 10 years after the movie, after the discontinuance of the PreCrime Program. It focuses on Dash, a male Precog and former key component of the PreCrime program, who teams up with a female detective named Lara Vega, to find a purpose to his gift.
As always when viewing videos on the Krypton Radio web site, temporarily pause the radio stream using the control in the upper right of your screen so that you don’t get the music superimposed over the sound track in the video.
Dash is played by Stark Sands. Lara Vega is played by Meagan Good. As they navigate this future America, Dash and Lara will search for Dash’s missing twin brother, Arthur, and elude others who will stop at nothing to exploit their precog abilities. Also complicating matters is Dash and Arthur’s ingenious but reclusive foster sister Agatha (played by Laura Regan), who just wants Dash to return home.
Minority Report explores the fine line between trying to keep people safe and making the world a better place, and the surrender of personal freedoms in exchange for that safety. This was a very relevant theme in the freshly post-9/11 America, and may be even more relevant today.
The show was picked up to series by Fox on May 9, 2015.
