He was fully armored. He had a helmet to protect his head, a blaster, and a rocket pack. So why did falling into the Sarlac pit have to be the final moments of the feared bounty hunter Boba Fett?

What if it wasn’t?

This top notch fan film, Star Wars: The New Republic Anthology by director Eric Demeusy  asks that question in the form of a trailer for a fictional feature film. If the people at Disney now curating the legacy of George Lucas aren’t paying close attention, they should be. This would make an awesome addition to the Star Wars universe. Demeusy captures the tone precisely in this pitch perfect invocation of the Star Wars magic. The description seems a bit off, though. It says that Boba Fett was trapped for 30 years in the Great Pit of Carkoon, but it begs the question of how he ate, drank, or how manky his shorts got under that armor.

As always when watching videos on the Krypton Radio web site, you’ll probably want to pause our radio stream using the handy controller at the upper right of the page before hitting play on the video.

Pretty amazing, huh? The effects were done by a Demeusy himself. There is no credit for Fett himself – it might just be the director under that helmet.

Oh, you can restart the Krypton Radio player now.

As an aside, plans are underway for an appearance by Boba Fett in the spinoff film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, due out in 2016, with Temuera Morrison playing Fett. There was also discussion of a Boba Fett movie, but we don’t see it in the Disney production calendar. Could Rogue One be a Boba Fett story?
