What is Battlesloths? From a game company called Invisible Collective, it’s a top down four player local multiplayer twin-stick shooter. Whew, that was a mouthful! Let’s break that down.

It’s a game where you play one of four “Battlesloths” who wield one of many weapons in the pursuit of defeating other sloths and getting pizza in the process. Check out some gameplay of it here!

The controls of the game are inspired by Hotline Miami in that you can only hold or use one of many weapons at one time. This means that the WSAD keys (or the left thumbstick) is used for movement and the mouse (right thumbstick) along with the left mouse button (right trigger) are used for firing your weapon or attacking with one of many melée weapons.

There are many game modes such as Timed or Normal Sloth Hunt (Free-For-All Deathmatch), Timed or Normal Slice Hunt (A “collect the objective” style game where you collect slices dropped by opponents when they die), Last Sloth Standing (Everyone has a limited amount of lives, last sloth standing wins), Time or Regular Golden Slice Hunt (A “golden” slice of pizza will randomly appear in a area of the map and you will be required to collect them before your opponent does).

I personally feel that this game has a lot of potential. From my interview with Invisible Collective’s Phillip Johnson, I get the sense that this game will only get better with time. They just got Greenlit on Steam and are looking to get the game into the hands of the players ASAP either through Early Access or a full release!

Here is that interview for your pleasure! You might want to pause the Krypton Radio music stream using the controller at the upper right of the page while you listen to this. If you’d rather download it and listen to it later, here’s the link.

Last but not least, You should check out the Battlesloths Bandcamp page and listen to the theme for the game. It’s called Middle Claws Up, and features Sulfur, Adam WarRock, Jesse Dangerously, MegaRan & Ceschi all in one song. It’s not exactly “Safe For Work” so discretion is advised but it’s totally worth it.
