Fast rising stars no longer come from the Hollywood movie machine. Now, they come from YouTube.
Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart star in this unlikely reboot of Sid & Marty Krofft’s Electra Woman & Dyna Girl. The actresses, best know for their respective YouTube channels It’s Grace and My Harto, portray don costumes much cooler than those worn by Deidre Hall and Judy Strangis in the original series from the 1970’s. That version of the show aired just 16 episodes as part of the kids series The Krofft Supershow.
In this new tongue in cheek incarnation from Legendary Digital Media and Fullscreen, the two superheroes relocate from Akron, Ohio to Los Angeles in hopes of fighting crime. Just like breaking into acting, though, the duo discover that it’s not quite that easy. There are a number of vigilantes already here, and they’re not completely thrilled with the arrival of two fresh new faces. Just like the originals, neither Electra Woman nor Dyna Girl have superpowers. They rely instead on quick reflexes and gadgets, kind of like Batman and Robin. They get in over their heads pretty quickly, though. Los Angeles is a big place, with mega-city sized crimes. Can the pair get over their differences and save their friendship in time to save the city?
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl releases June 7, 2016.
