Attack on Titan has been wildly acclaimed by fans of the smash hit manga by Hajime Isayama, and of the anime that it spawned in 2013. The wait for season 2 is nearly over.

Originally announced in 2014 for a 2016 release, the show is now listed by a Spanish distributor of the show as coming out in 2017. In an announcement at an Attack on Titan event held at the  Tokyo International Forum in Japan yesterday featuring the show’s voice cast, it is now confirmed that Attack on Titan season 2 will air in Japan in Spring next year. One attendee tweeted this:

Roughly translated, this says:

They just showed a presentation of season two, premiering spring of 2017! Details include Colossal and Armored Titans, Eren Titan, Levi, Mikasa, and I think Armin.

The author says, ‘It’s a little overdue, but this part is going to have quality and great planning. Please wait a bit longer, and I hope you look forward to it!’

To celebrate, a new poster for the show was released, featuring protagonist Eren Yaeger in his Titan form, going up against the terrifying Colossal Titan.

Attack on Titan first aired in 2013
