If you’re like most of the rest of us geeks, you’re probably playing the new mobile gaming craze from Niantic called Pokemon GO.  With you cell phone in your hand, you can travel around in the places you go, capturing little Pokemon creatures, training them up and battling them against one another in a constant battle with your friends to see who has what it takes to be the best Pokemon trainer there is.

If you’ve ever played it (everybody on the SCIFI.radio staff has at least tried it) you get this little popup notices that there’s a creature nearby that you can catch. What would happen if one of those alerts happened to point to somebody you know?

Poor Seth. His friend captures him and he becomes just another battle monster. Seth’s fortunes take a decided turn for the worse when a girl shows up with a Pikachu.

Nookazooka are three friends, Andrew (who does the VFX and directing) and Seth (who does acting and producing) and Matthew (who handles sound design and music). They’ve been at this since about 2010, nearly as long as SCIFI.radio has been around.

The effects and animation are frankly pretty darn good. That YouTubers can create something like this demonstrates that the face of entertainment itself is changing as we watch.

Enjoy.
