Once again, A Capella Science is strong with the Force. In this case, though, it’s the Force of Gravitation.  In February of this year, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) confirmed that they had detected the gravitational waves produced when two mutually orbiting black holes collided and became one. It produced waves which, with a little help, could be converted into sound.

We can hear Black Holes via their gravitational wave signature.

Tim Blais is a physics major, as if that wasn’t clear. He’s been combining his loves of science and music since he started making these videos as a grad student three years ago, and these are something that, of all people, only he can do.
