The new trailer for Logan has dropped, and the tone has shifted from the first trailer from one of a loner’s desperate, sad final days to one of hope for the next generation. Logan, formerly Wolverine, holds the key to young girl’s future. The setting is the year 2024, and both Logan and Charles Xavier still have their powers, but they’re not what they were. And the girl? She’s Logan’s clone, and of course has all the rage issues that come with being genetically predisposed to fighting her way out of every situation.
Naturally, that makes her the target of a shady corporation called Transigen, who is turning mutant children into weapons. This is a touchy subject for Wolverine.
This trailer has a lot of great Easter eggs and callbacks to the glory days of the X-Men, but the fans’ focus will likely be discussion and speculation on the future of the young mutant who will be X-23.
Logan is directed by James Mangold, written by Michael Green and Scott Frank (and about nine other people), stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook and Doris Morgado, and premieres March 3, 2017.
