And the title is, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In a tweet from the show’s director Rian Johnson, made earlier this morning, he gleefully announces the title of the new motion picture.

It’s due out in December of 2017, which seems like a very short production cycle. We know the production team is up to the challenge, though. It’ll be fast, but good. Disney has the resources to do it, too, and they will have no qualms at all in putting ridiculous amounts of money into it – because Star Wars: Rogue One has recently crossed the $1 billion mark in world wide box office, making it the most successful film – and franchise – in motion picture history.

From the web site:

We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.

THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.

The saga continues.

May the Force be with you.
