When Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, aka The Floronic Man, begin their plan to transform humanity into plants, Batman and Nightwing find themselves having to seek the aid of Ivy’s sometime BFF Harley Quinn to help find and stop Ivy and Woodrue.

That is the basic plot synopsis of the latest DC Animated film, Batman And Harley Quinn, coming from Warner Home Video in August. It’s an unlikely team-up for certain — not to mention Harley Quinn’s unpredictability which is sure to test Batman’s patience. The film is an original tale, written by Bruce Timm and directed by Sam Liu. Kevin Conroy returns as the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with The Big Bang Theory‘s Melissa Rauch as the voice of Harley Quinn, Loren Lester as the voice of Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Paget Brewster as the voice of Poison Ivy, and Kevin Michael Richardson as the voice of Jason Woodrue/The Floronic Man.

Unlike previous DC animated films, Batman And Harley Quinn is taking a more comedic approach, with some comparing it to the “buddy cop” films of the 1980’s. With Harley Quinn’s rising popularity, it’s no surprise that Warner Animation would try to feature her in her own film. Having her team up with Batman, with humorous results, was the last thing we’d expect, but it is a welcome change.

The film will be released on Digital Download, DVD, Blu Ray, Ultra HD, and a Blu Ray gift set that will include an exclusive Harley Quinn figure.

The special features on the Blu Ray and Ultra HD include:

  • The Harley Effect Featurette: Harley Quin, has a deep history with fans of the DC Universe. This featurette traces her humble roots from her creators, to those that portray her at comic book conventions.
  • Loren Lester: In His Own Voice featurette. A documentary about actor Loren Lester’s legacy within Batman: The Animated Series, Dick Grayson, and the popularity surrounding Lester’s interpretation of the Boy Wonder.
  • A sneak peek at the next DC animated film.
  • And from the DC Vault, two episodes from Batman: The Animated Series, Harley and Ivy and Harley’s Holiday.

The film releases on Digital HD on August 15 and will be available on Blu Ray and DVD on August 29.
