David Tennant will be starring as the demon Crowley in a TV adaptation of Good Omens, based on the book by Neil Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett.  Tennant is best known for playing the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who.  He is also famous for playing Barty Crouch, Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, doing the voice of Scrooge McDuck in the rebooted Duck Tales, and playing the villainous Kilgrave on Jessica Jones.  Tennant also co-starred in Broadchurch with Jodie Whittaker, who will be the 13th Doctor.

Welsh actor Michael Sheen will be co-starring as the angel Aziraphale.  He did the voice of House in the 11th Doctor episode of Doctor Who,  The Doctor’s Wife, coincidentally co-written by Gaiman.  He played the vampire Aro in the Twilight movies and the werewolf Lucian in Underworld.  In addition to playing Castor in Tron: Legacy, Sheen was Wesley in 30 Rock and Dr. William Masters in Masters of Sex.  He’s looking forward to being Aziraphale.

“I first read ‘Good Omens’ as a teenager and it’s been one of my favourite stories ever since.  To be part of the team entrusted with bringing it alive on screen is a bit of a dream come true to be honest. To work alongside Neil, who I think is one of the greatest storytellers of all time, is incredibly exciting. And, just like the rest of the world, I’m a huge fan of David’s so I relish trying to save it with him.”

Michael Sheen guest starred on the children's TV show "Bookaboo" twice.

As Variety reported: “the show is set in 2018 on the brink of an apocalypse as humanity prepares for a final judgment. But Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a demon, aren’t enthusiastic about the end of the world and can’t seem to find the Antichrist. Sheen will play the role of Aziraphale, while Tennant will play Crowley. It will consist of six one-hour episodes.”

Neil Gaiman has written all six scripts for the television show.  Good Omens is being co-produced by the BBC and Amazon Studios, according to the Guardian. There have been plans to adapt Good Omens for radio or TV before, but it’s finally real this time.   Look for it in 2018.
