Eagle Prime, the mechwarrior of Megabots, Inc.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the main event! Tonight, October 17, 2017 will see the future arrive with the world’s first-ever giant manned battle of robotic titans! Yes, you read that correctly.

On Twitch.tv/megabotsinc, starting at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST, Eagle Prime (seen above) of the American-based Megabots, Inc. will take on Kuratas of the Japanese based Suidobashi Heavy Industries in a live streaming event. The anticipation for this event is massive, as humanity prepares to enter a time period where giant robots will do battle, not in manga or anime, but in the real world.

For the first half hour, there will be a video on background information detailing what inspired this anticipated fight. After the battle, it will be followed by a questions and answer session.

In May 2016, MegaBots Inc. raised nearly two and half million dollars to form the Giant Robot Fighting League. Later, MegaBots would publicly challenge already established Suidobashi Heavy Industries to a duel, which they accepted. Recently, a Chinese based team called Monkey King, funded by GREATMETAL, said they are throwing their hat into the ring of the League. MegaBots states on their website they envision a future of “stadium-sized battles” with teams from around the world who have been inspired by their league.

In the fight, the two robots which are 15 feet tall, will fire spheres of paint, each the size of cannonballs, at speeds of 120 miles per hour, blasting off parts of the offending opponent. Whichever robot stays standing will be declared the winner.

On the MegaBots website, you can find out even more information about the company, such as a literal origin story comic book about the real life founders Gui Cavalcanti and Matt Oehrlein. They founded MegaBots in 2014, in the city of Hayward, California.

Rejoice sci-fi and anime fans, for we have entered into an era where we can cheer on giant robot battles in the real world.
