Aviv Mano has created a work of art. In his short film Game Changer,  a macho toy arcade prize is quick to judge a young girl who wants to win him, and goes on a life changing journey in attempt to stop her from winning enough tickets to take him home. Pause the SCIFI.radio music stream while you watch.

Game Changer has won at over a dozen awards at film festivals all over the world, and it’s easy to see why. Visual storytelling is an art, and to do it with no dialog at all shows off just how strong Aviv’s skills really are. The character design is pleasant, and while the little girl is not memorable by herself, what sets her apart is her performance. The macho toy reminds us of the pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, and the emotions he expresses and the angst and inner turmoil he experiences gives the film a beautiful little story arc that makes us smile.

We love Game Changer. We’re working on our own animation project, and that gives you some real perspective on just what an achievement a short film like this is.

Gifted animator Aviv Mano

Aviv describes himself this way:

My very first vivid memory that is related to pursuing art as a career is associated with the first time I watched Toy Story at the theater when I was 6 years old. The story and animation won over my heart and I knew I wanted to be a part of making things like that. What inspires my work the most are little moments in life, interactions between people and little nuances that make people unique. I work to eliminate the stereotype of animation being only for children, as I believe that people of all ages can enjoy and appreciate a good, honest character performance. It is my mission to reach people all around the world, and open their minds to different views and opinions. I also love toys and soft serve ice cream.

This short subject is every bit as good as the stuff that comes out of Pixar, and it is our sincere hope that Aviv ends up there.
