Epic Ink assembles ten original, never-before-seen large-format maps of the Star Trek universe. Pulled from the cartography archives of Starfleet Academy, these beautifully reproduced maps provide a rare opportunity to view the expanse of Federation space — and beyond — through the multiple lenses of the Galaxy’s key players.
Star Trek author, actor, and archivist Larry Nemecek explains the maps are “all grounded in known astronomy and physics and are based on the original, in-house charts that were prepared from the basic galaxy ‘quadrant’ layout and main empires locations.”
Perhaps the world’s foremost expert on Star Trek, Larry has written nearly two dozen books on the subject, wrote for Star Trek Magazine, was managing editor for another periodical called Star Trek Communicator, and has served as consultant on 16 Trek related films and documentaries between 2002 and 2015, even appearing as Dr. Leanard McCoy in Vic Mignogna’s Star Trek Continues. He also serves on the board of the Enterprise in Space Project.
The maps include an ancient Vulcan map, a Klingon Empire map from the pre-Organian Peace Treaty era (in the native Klingon), an official Romulan government map of the Empire, a native Cardassian Union map from the Bajor occupation, along with Federation maps from the modern era. In addition, Nemecek choreographed the Domionin War – describing this as his “greatest contribution” in authoring the book. Housed in a handsome clamshell case and paired with a fully-illustrated reference book providing detailed information on planets, systems, and topography, this exclusive collection showcases the Star Trek universe like never before.
If you were planning on getting this on Kindle, oh, yes, it will be cheaper. The whole point of this release, though, is the beautiful foldout maps. This is similar in its collector’s appeal to the blueprints of the starship Enterprise. Trust us, this is easily worth having in its physical form, and a fine addition to any serious Trek collector’s bookshelf.
You can get this beautiful new publication from Amazon and wherever fine books are sold.
