We are a rumor. Recognizable only as deja vu, and dismissed just as quickly. We are the Men In Black.

Before you watch this brand new trailer for Men In Black: International, starring our man Chris Hemsworth as Agent H and Tessa Thompson as Agent M, pause the SCIFI.radio music stream at the top of the page (or at the bottom if you’re on mobile, we’re still trying to figure that one out) .

Ready? Hold onto your butts. Here we go.

M.I.B. is the best kept secret on the entire planet. Tessa Thompson plays Agent M, a young woman who has spent the past 20 years of her life finding M.I.B., and the fact that she was able to find M.I.B. on her own makes her perfect for the job. Thompson is a livewire in this role, and Chris Hemsworth is delightful as a miscreant Agent H who, somehow, is M.I.B’s best agent (and who still manages to be in a scene throwing a hammer in combat). This is the pair’s second time together in front of the cameras – Thompson played Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.

It’s all there – the xenotechnology, the wild chases, the alien species, the worm guys who hang out at the coffee maker, they are keeping world continuity.

It’s a SEQUEL. Not a remake, not a reimagining, not a prequel. Everything is kept from the previous movies, and from the previously imagined universe in which all this works.

We think that’s Liam Neeson’s character in the painting on the left, and that is definitely Agent K and Agent J fighting the giant bug in Queens. And hitting that geek nerve in a perfect sweet “crunch” is the fact that while Agent M isn’t a character from the movies, women can be MIB too.

Here’s Agent L from the animated series. Take that, naysayers.

Ooooh, snap.

It might be a “reboot” of sorts, but a lot of what makes Men In Black charming was the premise, because they didn’t throw away the worldbuildiing and just focus on new characters, they get all the points from us.

Men in Black: International stars Tessa Thompson, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson as Agent O, and releases June 14, 2019.
