Carpool Karoake features several members of the Star Trek: Discovery cast in its latest episode.
The episode features Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), Doug Jones (Saru), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), and Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly). This clip was released online on Superbowl Sunday. In the clip, the cast members sing a song about Star Trek to the tune of the song Season of Love” from the musical Rent. Anthony Rapp should know the music well, as he was part of the original broadway cast and starred in the movie version.
If you have an Apple device or the Apple music program you can watch the the full episode. There’s a lot of footage of the cast just chilling in each other’s company as they drive through Toronto, where Star Trek: Discovery is filmed. Doug Jones recalls his wild disco days and the rest of the group talks about their nerd habits and history (Doug Jones is six foot four, and thin as a beanpole. He must have been some sight on the dance floor.)
Star Trek: Discovery Season Two is now streaming on CBS All Access, and the new season is shaping up way better than the near disastrous first season, with a whole new spirit of adventure and a new captain in the person of Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike.
This video is weird, but fun. Trek fans never lose anything. This funny, silly video of the cast goofing around is going to be one of those immortal things Trek fans will be sharing back and forth with one another for generations.
New Star Trek: Discovery Season Two episodes stream Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS All Access.
