The first full trailer for Avengers: Endgame is finally, finally here. I’m not going to waste your time talking about it when you could be watching it. Just do yourself a quick favor and pause the Krypton Radio stream using the control on the right before hitting that play button.
Ready? Here we go.
There is so much cool stuff in here I don’t know where to begin. It’s a montage piece, with footage taken from no fewer than eight prior movies in the MCU. The heartbreak, the devastation, the loss – it’s all there, interspersed with new footage from Avengers: Endgame, building up to the final crescendo.
That they waited this long to give us a full trailer shows how confident they are that it’s going to do well, and how big a job making a movie like this really is.
Still Three Hours Long
It’s also likely to be a three hour film. Last December, Empire Magazine interviewed co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo (as related by our friends at ScreenRant). They related that they were trying to get the film down under three hours in length. They weren’t having much luck.
A later report in IndieWire tells us that they didn’t get it trimmed down much. The Walt Disney Company (who is doing the distribution) is apparently okay with it being the length it is. This will make it the longest film in the entire series, by far. It’s the culmination of 22 movies, so as the audience, somehow we’ll figure this out. They may be forced to insert an intermission, though. This was done with The Right Stuff when that was released to theaters in 1984.
Avengers: Endgame is due out on April 26. When you go, get the popcorn, but pass on the drink if you want to make it through the entire three hours.
