Variety says Dave Green will direct Coyote vs. Acme for Warner Brothers. The movie will be a hybrid of animation and live action, like Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Pete’s Dragon.
Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner were created by animation director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese in 1948 for Warner Bros. The coyote has appeared in 49 cartoon shorts, but this will be the sneaky mammal’s first feature film. Wile E. Coyote is a self-proclaimed genius, and one of Rube Goldberg’s greatest students; he is also an amateur artist, specializing in pictures of tunnels. His usual opponent is the roadrunner, but he has faced Bugs Bunny in five cartoons from 1952 to 1963.
This movie is supposed to take place in an Acme warehouse, perhaps with the Coyote suing them for sub-par products. Variety says Warner Brothers are looking for a scriptwriter, but IMDB.com says Joe and Josh Silberman will be co-writing the movie.
Dave Green directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which was released by Paramount and earned over $245 million worldwide. In 2014, he directed the cult animated film Earth to Echo.
