There are two Hollywoods. There is the one that makes all the films we see in the theaters and stream at home. Then there’s the other one, the one where the only barrier to entry is one’s own passion and force of will, where filmmakers run on hopes and dreams and maxed out credit cards, making movies for the joy of it.

Jamie Costa has one foot in each world. He’s a professional screen and voice actor, and an accomplished filmmaker – but while he’s been pretty busy making great stuff in Hollywood proper, he’s also known well in the world of Geekdom is his Star Wars films.

Now, Costa is back with a new Star Wars fan film, but this time in the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Kenobi: A Star Wars Fan Film. The film takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and serves the backstory of how young Luke Skywalker (Audie Rick) came to be in the custody of Owen and Beru Lars ( Tommy Snider and Maxine Phoenix ) on the desert planet of Tatooine.

Watch and be enthralled.

Jamie Costa hasn’t starred in any real, commercial Star Wars films – yet. We think it’s just a matter of time, really. He created an amazing rendition of Han Solo in his previous effort, and while the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story was being cast in 2017, there was a grassroots fan movement urging the studio to cast him in the role. Alas, it was not to be, but he gave us an amazing performance in Han Solo: A Smuggler’s Trade that proved he would have been more than up to the challenge.
