Richard Herd, who appeared in V, Star Trek: The Next Generation, seaQuest DSV, Star Trek: Voyagers, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari has passed away at the age of 87. He was born September 26, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died May 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California after a battle with cancer, bringing his long . theatrical career, on stage, in television and in movies, to a close.
Although many TV fans will remember him as Mr. Wilhelm in Seinfeld, at Krypton Radio we remember he played the Klingon L’Kor on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Admiral Owen Paris on Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Renegades. He was the Visitor leader John in V and V: The Final Battle, and Admiral (later Secretary-General) William Noyce on seaQuest DSV, He played Commissioner Raab in the 2005 remake of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. He appeared in Hercules in New York as a television presenter. He was Chairman Spencer in Trancers. He voiced Jacob in Joseph: King of Dreams, where Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill voiced his son Judah. He appeared in one episode each of The Powers of Matthew Star.Beauty and the Beast, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Tales from the Crypt., and two episodes of Quantum Leap and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. He co-starred with Star Trek‘s William Shatner in T. J. Hooker as Captain Sheridan.
His movies included Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, All the President’s Men, and The China Syndrome.
Richard Herd was married three times and divorced twice. He is survived by his third wife, actress Patricia Crowder Herd, and his children Richard and Erica.
