One of the strangest successful magic formulas ever to hit the big screen was 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, in which two of the most self-involved, clueless teenage boys (Bill, played by Alex Winter, and Ted, played by Keanu Reeves) use Rufus’ time machine (which bore a striking resemblence to an ordinary telephone booth) to travel the centuries, doing research for their final exams in high school history class.

After the successful 1991 sequel, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, in which their music saves the world, and in which they overcome Death himself (who joins their band) it would be 19 more years before it would be time for the third film in the series to come to theaters.

Buckle up, boys and girls. That time has arrived.

Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.

Bill and Ted Face the Music is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) – and produced by Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici, and Steve Ponce.

Orion Pictures presents Bill and Ted Face the Music, in theaters via United Artists Releasing on August 21, 2020.

Directed by Dean Parisot with returning franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the film will continue to track the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan.
