Phineas and Ferb know what they’re going to do this summer.
August 28, 2020, Disney + will debut a new animated feature, Phineas And Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe, Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother Ferb Fletcher must rescue their older sister/stepsister Candace Flynn after she is abducted by aliens. In the Flynn-Fletcher family, being abducted by aliens is more of a matter of “no, not again” rather than, “Oh, my!”
“Voice talent reprising their roles from the original series and movie include: Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn; Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn; Caroline Rhea as their mom, Linda; Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus; Alyson Stoner as Isabella; Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet; Bobby Gaylor as Buford; Olivia Olson as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz; Tyler Mann as Carl; and Povenmire and Marsh as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram, respectively,” reported Disney.com. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who voiced Ferb in the series, has been replaced by David Errigo Jr.
At 30, Brodie-Sangster may have aged out of voicing Ferb, but his career is far from over. He has already appeared in two episodes of Dr. Who with David Tennant and in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, and was Newt in The Maze Runner franchise.
All four seasons of the original animated series Phineas and Ferb, along with the Disney Channel Original Movie Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, are also available to stream on Disney+. Beginning Tuesday, August 25, all episodes will be presented on Disney XD leading up to the movie’s premiere.
Disney has always invested in hiring quality composers and musicians, and music has always been an integral part of the Phineas and Ferb show. Guest songwriters Karey Kirkpatrick (“Something Rotten!”), Emanuel Kiriakou (Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You”) and Kate Micucci (“Garfunkel and Oates”) have joined the movie’s songwriters for some collaborations. The soundtrack for Candace Against the Universe will be released August 28, the day the movie debuts on Disney +.
