Ready Player Two, Ernest Cline’s highly anticipated sequel to his beloved worldwide bestseller Ready Player One, publishes in the U.S. and U.K. on November 24th and is expected to be the biggest fiction book of 2020. What better a venue for a book tour could there possibly be than in VR itself?

Ernest Cline’s virtual book tour for Ready Player Two has been updated to include a virtual Q&A with Ernest Cline in Bigscreen, the premiere virtual reality destination for watching movies with your friends. Using virtual reality headsets, Bigscreen provides an immersive and social movie theater experience in the home. The Q&A with Cline and Darshan Shankar, the CEO and Founder of Bigscreen, will be streamed in Bigscreen on December 5th at 5PM Pacific (8PM Eastern). The event is open to audiences worldwide for free and requires the Bigscreen application (www.bigscreenvr.com) and a supported virtual reality headset.

“In 2011 – before virtual reality headsets really existed – Ready Player One inspired us of what was possible with VR. People are now using Bigscreen as a classroom for virtual education, as a virtual movie theater, and even as a virtual date night for people in long-distance relationships: things Ernie Cline predicted a decade ago! I can’t wait to read Ready Player Two and get a glimpse of the future,” said Shankar.

Cline said, “Bigscreen is by far my favorite VR application and it’s also the one I’ve used the most this past year. I get together with my friends inside Bigscreen at least once a week to hang out, watch movies, and play games together, even though we’re scattered across the country. I’m so grateful to Darshan and his team for turning something from my imagination into a reality, and for doing it decades before I thought it would be possible. And I’m honored that they’ve invited me to appear on their platform to discuss Ready Player Two.”

In his 2011 blockbuster debut, Ready Player One, Ernest Cline imagined a near future where the world endured a pandemic and was in severe economic depression, so humanity escapes an inhospitable real world for the safety of a virtual universe called the Oasis. In the Oasis, people work, socialize, fall in love, play, and watch movies in dream locations, much like in Bigscreen. The cinematic and prescient novel was immediately embraced by readers, booksellers, and critics alike, with rave reviews in publications around the world. It went on to spend more than 100 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list (as well as becoming the first book ever to hit #1 on the Times’ hardcover, paperback, and audio lists), has been published in more than 50 countries around the world, and—among its numerous honors—was voted one of America’s 100 best loved books in PBS’ Great American Read.

In Ready Player Two, Cline takes readers on a new and wildly imaginative action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, the Oasis, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again. Ready Player Two is available for purchase at www.readyplayertwo.com.

Bigscreen is available via Steam and VivePort, among others.
